Will 2012 Be The Year Of The Israeli Spring?
United States Defense Secretary Leon Panetta believes there is a strong possibility that Israel will strike Iran in April, May or June, thwarting Iran's attempt to create a nuclear weapon. If true, we are on the precipice of a major event in the Middle East that will eclipse the Egyptian riots, the Syrian slaughter, political crisis in Iraq, and the Taliban negotiations in Afghanistan.
If true, the current realignment of countries, both internal and external, will accelerate. The major geopolitical players - the United States, the EU, China, and Russia are actively pursuing the control of the world's resources. Magog is aligning and the kings of the East are rising. We will see this continue as the world grapples for oil.
While the EU bans all Iranian oil starting this summer, China will pick up the European share. Iran suffers no consequences. US allies Japan and South Korea will further align themselves with China as they continue to buy Iranian oil. The EU is courting China in an attempt to get increased financial support for their debt-ridden nations. China is buying gold at record amounts, while the US seeks to build its naval power in th Eastern hemisphere.
Russia, the world's biggest oil-producer, will increase its oil and gas imports to the EU, to make up for the lack of Iranian oil. Russia is increasingly concerned with NATO's influence in the former Soviet states, while Leon Panetta assures our European allies as the US cuts American troops on European soil. Panetta has proposed a smaller American army brigade for a NATO Response Force to help defend Europe.
China and Russia are flexing their muscle against the US and EU, blocking Middle East sanctions and initiatives in the UN Security Council. Where will China and Russia stand when all eyes turn to Israel? Make no mistake, all eyes will be on Israel once again. |
